The St Bede’s Sports Centre focuses on all aspects of health and fitness within an educational environment. School assemblies, speeches and Holy Communion are now held regularly in the enlarged and renovated sports hall, which is a double basketball court size and is now fully equipped with video, PA systems and acoustic treatments. While general classrooms are dispersed throughout the school, all P.E., Health and Wellbeing classes are now held in three flexible classrooms provided within the gymnasium facility.
At recess and lunch break, meals from the canteen within the facility can be eaten inside the dining room or outside beneath new shade structures. The shade structures in turn are part of the ESD initiative, as they collect rainwater and distribute it through rain gardens before the water is stored in tanks for use as toilet flushing water or filtered through the grounds’ irrigation system, making the sports centre totally water independent.
