This project is Stage 2 of the extensive redevelopment of the Leongatha Education Precinct, which includes Leongatha Primary School and some shared facilities with Leongatha Secondary College.
In this design we utilised a ‘Learning Street’ model for the arrangement of buildings on the campus site, as well as the arrangement of spaces within each building. The Learning Street consists of pockets of vibrant communal spaces that are not rigidly time-tabled. Instead, these varied spaces link between various formal instructional teaching studios yet seamlessly flow onto outdoor learning spaces, inviting a flux and flow of learners who can temporarily colonise the spaces for a huge range of activities. The Learning Street therefore facilitates the Walker Learning Approach where the environment empowers and encourages the students’ self-learning.
