From the outset of the project, Heritage College expressed their desire to break away from the traditional path they had previously taken when setting out to build a new campus in Officer. This project therefore demonstrates a marked shift in the learning pedagogy of Heritage College. The connection between indoor and outdoor learning spaces is given prominence through a series of expansive covered verandahs, pavilions and covered walkways that facilitate opportunities for indoor and outdoor learning. The project incorporates various ESD strategies, fulfilling the school’s desire that environmentally sustainable practices become a part of the building’s operation, a critical part of the education curriculum and a part of the school’s overall master planning vision.
