The Arts and Learning Information Centre for Ringwood North Primary School brings together the Performing and Visual Arts, the Junior Library and the Indonesian cultural and language studio, creating versatile spaces which provide a contemporary learning space for the arts.
We saw the architectural opportunity to utilise the sloping site to maximise access, link level changes and create a series of terraced courtyards and viewing steps for an outdoor performance space. The heart of the project is a flexible tiered learning space with a music studio. A large operable wall between studios allows for flexibility to accommodate smaller student groups or full performances, while a large glazed door opens to the drama court for outdoor performances, promoting the performing and creative arts as central to the school’s identity.
